El 25 de Junio de 2008, se inauguró la
Termoeléctrica José de San Martín (TJSM), en la
localidad de Timbués, Provincia de Santa Fe, altu-
ra km. 465 de Río Paraná en confluencia con la
desembocadura del Río Coronda.
La misma arranco con una turbina de 270 MW
(Mega Watts) y el 21 de agosto del mismo año la
segunda, con igual potencia. Ambas unidades
dieron inicio así a la operación bajo la modalidad
denominada “Ciclo Simple”, con un rendimiento
del 35%.
En febrero 2010 se cumplió con el último hito de
la construcción, cuando se habilitó comercial-
mente la tercera turbina (en esta caso la unidad a
vapor) y la Central que operando a pleno bajo
modalidad de “Ciclo Combinado”, erogando una
potencia neta en el orden de losm825 MW y
teniendo un rendimiento aproximado del 56%.
El nivel de potencia de la Central, el rendimiento
y eficiencia de sus unidades, los sistemas de
seguridad y confiabilidad de la planta, así como
las muy bajas emisiones (por debajo de lo esta-
blecido en la legislación vigente), permiten afir-
mar que la Central Timbués Termoeléctrica José
de San Martín S.A. se encuentra entre las más
modernas e importantes de la República
Argentina.
